"Cheer-Ups"
Products
Cheer-Ups
are lively, colorful fabric wall hangings that function
as displays for pinning up cards, letters and messages,.
Cheer-Ups
were developed to help enliven, personalize and add color
to hospital and assisted care facility rooms. They come
in many different combinations of fabrics, themes and colors,
so it is easy to choose something that is appealing to many
different ages and types of people.
Cheer-Ups
products make ideal fund-raisers! Let us work with you to
create a package of our products ideal for your organization's
fund-raising events. We can easily personalize the products
with your logo, message or a sponsor's logo.
A
portion of the profit on each Cheer-ups product in Northern
California will be donated to Sutter Visiting Nurses Association
and Hospice.
David
Povilaitis, a Sonoma County artist and photographer, developed
the idea for Cheer-Ups when his mother was in the hospital
for a hip replacement.
He
brought the first prototype, in the shape of a heart ("Hearts
of Hope and Health"), to her room in order to liven
it up with a place to display her cards that were piling
up on the nightstand. The Heart was such a hit with both
the hospital staff and visiting friends and relatives that
he decided that there was a receptive audience for this
type of room decoration.
He is developing a full line of products based on the idea
of the original.
Shortly
after the first prototypes were made, David and his family
were shocked and amazed to find out that he needed unexpected
heart surgery. The surgery and recovery afterward allowed
him to get a more personal perspective on hospital rooms
and more ideas for useful and interesting products.
His
wife, Jami, an artist and painter who loves combining color
and pattern in unexpected ways, collaborates with him in
choosing fabric combinations for the hearts, and with ideas
for promotion and development of other products.
